Abstract The original article of this translation report is the Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 from The Residential Tenancy Law in New South Wales written by Gareth Griffith and Lenny Roth. This article is a legal text about residential tenancy from the legislature in New South Wales . It is helpful for us to know about the Residential Tenancy Law in New South Wales by reading and translating this article, and to promote the development of residential tenancy law in China. There is no translation of this article until now, so it is the first edition of Chinese. Through the translation project, the author found out that it was the attributive clause that added difficulty to the translation. Therefore, this paper aims at analyzing methods used in translating the attributive clauses in the legal text. Through the aborative translation, the author has analyzed the attributive clauses in the original text. Based on the translation practice, the author analyzed the problems faced and the methods used in translating the attributive clauses in the legal text. This translation project has 5 chapters. Chapter 1 is introduction, which presents the background and significance of this project, as well as the framework of this article. Chapter 2 discusses translation methods of attributive clauses in normal text. In Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, the translation methods will be discussed combined with the examples in the original text. The author will conclude the proper methods which consider practicable. In the last Chapter, the author concludes the experience and lessons in the translation practice.
