Abstract Background:Inhigh-incomecountries,greatdisparitiesexistintheorganizationalcharacteristicsofmaternity healthservices.InFinland,primarymaternitycareisprovidedatcommunalmaternityhealthclinics(MHC).Atthese MHCstherearepublichealthnursesandgeneralpractitionersprovidingcare.ThestructureofservicesinMHCs varieslargely.MHCsaremaintainedindependentlyormergedwithotherprimaryhealthcaresectors.Awidelyused organizationalmodelofservicesisacombinedmaternityandchildhealthclinic(MHCCHC)wherethesame publichealthnursetakescareofthefamilyfrompregnancyuntilthechildisatschoolage.Theaimofthisstudy wastodeterminehoworganizationalmodel,MHCindependentorcombinedMHCCHC,influenceonwomen’s andtheirpartners’serviceexperiences. Methods:Acomparative,cross-sectionalserviceevaluationsurveywasused.Women(N=995)andtheirpartners (N=789)wererecruitedfromtheMHCsintheareaofTurkuUniversityHospital.Fourmonthspostpartum,the participantswereaskedtoevaluatethecontentandamountoftheMHCservicesviaapostalquestionnaire. ComparisonsweremadebetweentheclientsoftheseparateMHCsandtheMHCscombinedtothechildhealth clinics. Results:WomenwhohadusedthecombinedMHCCHCsgenerallyevaluatedservicesmorepositivelythan womenwhohadusedtheseparateMHCs.MHC’smodelwasrelatedtoseveralaspectsoftheservicewhichwere evaluated“good”(thecontentoftheservice)or“much”(theamountoftheservice).Significantdifferences accumulatedfavoringthecombinedMHCCHCs’model.Twelveaspectsoftheservicewererankedmoreoftenas “good”or“much”bytheparentswhohadusedthecombinedMHCCHC,onlygroupactivitiesregardingdelivery wereevaluatedbetterbywomenwhohadusedtheseparateMHCs. Conclusions:Basedonthewomen’sandpartners’experiencesanorganizationalmodelofthecombinedMHC CHCwhere
