The principle, which is based on astaticexcitationtoavoidplanareddycurrents,isexplainedandspeci?ctestbenchesare proposed.Measurementsofthe?uxdensityaremadewithasensormovinginandoutofan air-gap. Asimpleanalyticalmodelisderivedinordertodeterminethepermeabilityinthe normaldirection. Theexperimentalresultsforgrainorientedsteelsheetsarepresentedand acomparisonisprovidedwithvaluesobtainedfromliterature.
