[Abstract] years of English education in our country under the influence of test-oriented education has always emphasized learning textbooks and grammar at the expense of English extracurricular reading. Along with the promotion of quality education, the situation has improved. In this paper, non-English majors in extra-curricular reading the situation, teachers should guide students in extra-curricular reading on how such issues were investigated and analyzed described.

A theoretical background
Linguist Krashen (1985) that the ability to master a second language is a key factor in access to a large number of comprehensible language input materials. Contact with the main channel of input materials, there are two, one to listen to the second is reading. Fudan University, Professor Dong Yafen (2003) considered ‘extensive reading and a number of Duyuan Zhu is an indispensable condition to learn foreign languages’. Shows extensive reading is to improve the English proficiency of students in an effective way.
2 Research Methods
2.1 The research questions
The survey questionnaire by the students conducted in a way. The questionnaire aimed at the following issues: (1) for the English-school reading time, extra-curricular reading materials selection; (2) the purpose of reading; (3) English reading difficulties and causes.
2.2 survey
The survey was conducted this study, Linyi Teachers College, 2006 Professional 220 non-English students (see Table 1) their age ranging from 19 to 22 years, with an average age of 20.67 years, with girls 120, boys 100.
2.3 research tools
