Abstract ：In the 21st century ，steel material plays a key role in the structural materials for petroleum and petrochemical industry in
China and the world．As an important method of material forming ，welding technology is one kind of indispensable metal processing
technology in modern industrial production ，and widely used in petroleum engineering construction field．There are many types of
welding structures in the field of petroleum engineering ，and their application conditions are different from each other ，so different
requirements are put forward for the property of structural steel．This paper summarizes the application status of welding technology in
oil and gas storage and transportation ，drilling machinery ，petrochemical machinery and offshore platform．As the complication degree
