Based on this, concepts and descriptions of manufacturing feature type and manufacturing feature instance w ere proposed, and a product manufacturing feature information inst antiation method w as put forw ard. In the st udy, manufacturing feature type database w as built to define, extend and store manufacturing feature t ype information. Wit h manufacturing feature type, product manufacturing feat ure informat ion can be obtained f rom product model information, and the product model can then be transferred and stored t o information set based on manufact uring feature. Product manufacturing feat ure instance database was built to store product manufact uring feat ure instance information and t o support fol low ing manufacturing activities w ith required product manufacturing information. Finally, an example w as used to verify the approach of obtain
