Module 5 Unit 1 Getting along with others

Teaching aims:
To arouse students’ memory of words and phrases in module5 unit1.
To develop students’ ability of mastering some useful phrases and grammar by exercises.
Teaching methods:
Group-work, competition, and task-based language teaching.
Teaching procedures:
Step one. Words reviewing
● Give students several minutes to finish the exercise on the PPT, and then ask some of them to read out the following words both in English and in Chinese.

9. 受损害v. suffer
11. 全世界ad. worldwide
13. 忽视v. overlook
15. 吝啬的a. mean

6. 实用的 a. practical
8. 论文 n. essay
10. 态度 n. attitude
12. 使困惑 v. puzzle
14. 优秀的 a. brilliant
16. 有天赋的a. gifted
18. 使毁灭 v. ruin
20. 焦急的a. anxious ● Allow students three minutes to memorize these words in mind, and then show the following words on the PPT. Invite some lines of students to translate the words into English or Chinese quickly.

Step two. Phrases reviewing
● Show students some important sentences from the text onto the PPT, and ask them to translate these sentences into Chinese.
1. (P2L8):I must have sounded very proud of myself after the test
2. (P2L11):I feel so ashamed, … I couldn’t even pass an easy Maths test!
3. (P2L12):I didn’t feel like I was overlooking my studies.
4. (P3L41): He said it wasn’t his fault if he couldn’t play as well as me and that I shouldn’t yell at him.
