A lso, it is the trunk road link ing Duj ingyan C ity and W enchuan coun ty town. The Du - W en h ighway fo llow s the M inj ing river to the north and its length is 108 km. The road wa s totally de stroyed by a great num ber of geohazard s such a s rock co llap se s and land slide s du ring the W enchuan Earthquake. The river val leys are very narrow and have h igh steep slop e s w ith loo se and cracked moun tainou s geom aterials. Con sidering the importance of the road to the re scue of disa sters and recon struction of the de stroyed area s after the earthquake, it m u st be rep aired in a very short p eriod of tim e.
