Abs tract: The characteristics of nearfield groundmotions and the fortification against nearfield earthquake in seis
m ic codes are discussed firstly. Thenw ith themethod of nonlinear tmi e h istory analysis, the characteristic of a ten
story concrete frame under nearfield grounds motions is studied. M eanwh ile the seism ic response of the tenstory
concrete frame is obtained by using pushover analysis. Comparingw ith the resu lts of nonlinear tmi e h istory analysis,
it is illustrated that them ethod of pushover analysis can not accurately evaluate the seism ic perform ance of struc
tures subjected to nearfield grounds motions.
