Several second sen sitivity wa s selected to app ly in th is m ethod through comp aring the ab sorbency of po ta ssium and sodium in differen t wavelength. The p re sent p rocedure wa s simp le and the resu ltswere satisfactory. H igh sen si tivity, good linearity , exact and steady re su lts were obtained w ith the m ethod. D etection lim it for pota ssium and sodium wa s 0. 005 m g/L , 0. 008 m g/L , resp ectively. Th is m ethod wa s app lied for the con tents of pota ssium and sodium in two wa ter samp le s. R elative standard deviation from 1. 2% to 1. 9% and recoveries from 95. 2% to 103. 2 % were obtained.
