教育改革发展五项重点任务（Five key tasks of educational reform and development） On the morning of March 5th, at the two session of the eleven National Peoples Congress (NPC), Premier Wen Jiabao made a government work report to the general assembly. When it comes to the main tasks of the year 2009, the report points out that we should continue to give priority to the development of education. This year we should study and formulate a national program for medium - and long-term educational reform and development, and make a comprehensive plan for the reform and development of education in China before 2020. During the year, we should focus on five aspects: promoting educational equity, optimizing educational structure, strengthening the construction of teaching staff, promoting quality education and implementing safety engineering in primary and secondary schools. In the past ten days, two NPC deputies and CPPCC members have expressed their views on the issue of education in the government work report. They combine their personal experience in their actual work, and give advice and suggestions on five aspects of work. They are both realistic and instructive.
