Effects of Different Kinds of Acupuncture Stimulations on Gastric Motility Related to Body Conditions Speciality: Acupuncture and moxibustion Author: Yangshuai Su Tutor: Prof. Qiwen Tan Abstract AIM: To investigate the influential factors of acupoints. To observe the effects of different methods and intensities of acupuncture stimulations on gastric motility related to different body conditions. The relationship among the property of acupoint , the stimulus parameters and the body conditions was elucidated. Methods: Different methods and intensities of acupuncture stimulations were proceeded respectively at ST36 and CV12 of SD rats. The changes of gastric motility responding to needling ST36 and CV12 were recorded through a balloon which was inserted via abdominal incision into the pyloric area and fixed. (1) In normal rats, the character of the effects of ST36 and CV12 on gastric motility was observed after different intensities of manual and electro acupuncture stimulations. Meanwhile, the optimal stimulus intensities of manual and electro acupuncture were founded. (2) Established gastric motion restrained group and gastric antrum distension group. Only the optimal intensities of manual and electro acupuncture were used in these two pathologic groups and the character of the effects of ST36 and CV12 on gastric motility was analyzed respectively in each condition.
