Methods 68 cases of bu st f ac tu e of t ho acolumba ve teb ae we e t eated with ope at ion. Poste io decomp ession was pe fo med in 56 cas es and late al ante io decomp ession of pediculus a cus ve teb ae w as done w ith poste io app oach in 12 cases. Ve teb ae f ag ments comp essing spinal co d o cauda equina f om the ante io we e hamme ed into the can cellous ve teb al body o ex cised. Of the 68 cases, 15 we e fix ed w ith Dick# s nails, 42 wit h double Ha ington# s ods, 8 w ith Ha ingtonL uque# s ods, 3 w ith L uque# s ods, and 15 had unde gone bone g aft ing in betw een the inte spinous a ticula p ocess. Results T he followup pe iod anged f om 4 mo nths to 4 yea s and 4 months, wit h an ave age of 2 yea s. T he esults show ed stable and fi m inte nal fix at ion, sat isfacto y f actu e eduction, effectiv e ecove y of diamete of v e teb al canal as w ell as much bette postope ative ne ve function.
