必修3 第3—4单元同义词语越辨越明 刘永科 Distinguishing Words越辨越明 1.【辨点】permit, allow和promise permit和allow是同义词，在很多情况下都表示“允许”，意思相同，用法也基本相同。permit 较为正式一些，含有“准许”之意；allow含有“默许，容忍，使”等意思。例如： Smoking is not permitted (allowed) here. 这里不许抽烟。 The teacher permitted (allowed) me to enter his office. 老师允许我进入他的办公室。 Dont allow any opportunity to pass by.
