Unit 1 Im watching TV Language goals: the Ss learn to talk about what people are doing. 1. Difficulties: --What are you doing? --Im doing my homework. --What is he/she doing? ---He/she is reading. --What are they doing? ---They are talking on the phone. Names of activities : watching , doing, eating, cleaning, playing, swimming, reading, talking. Procedures: Step 1: Free talk T asks the Ss a few questions to practice the simple present tense, like Miss Wang likes dancing, do you like dancing? Does Jason speak English every day? I am a teacher, are you a teacher? and the like, then asks the Ss so, are you ready for our new class? Step 2: Warming-up T: Ok, before our new class, lets review the new words. I say Chinese or English, you say English or Chinese, if you know it, just stand up, and speak out, lets see who is the first, got it ? So, are you ready? ( just like these to review the new words to activate the Ss interest.) Step 3: Lead-in T shows some pictures on the screen to practice the phrases like do homework; watch TV; eat dinner; talk on the phone . After that, T says: now, its 8:30, What are you doing? (T write it on the blackboard), then T says Who can ask me this question? T demonstrates, and says: I am having an English class. Then asks the Ss one by one. Step 4: Presentation T says: look at the pictures, and lets see what they are doing now? T shows the pictures one by one and practice each picture. Pic. 1: What is he doing? He is doing homework/ watching TV. Pic. 2: What is she doing? She is eating dinner. Pic.3: What are they doing? They are talking on the phone. (pair work to practice each one, then show them one by one) T shows the four pictures on the screen together, then pair work to practice, --What is he doing?
