Based on t he principle o f elect ronic compass, the angle values betw een t he nort h and heading of the sy st em ar e realt ime acquired t hr ough the digit al por t and ser ial por t of t he elect ronic co mpass u sing DSP processor , and t he heading of the syst em is driven t o the coarse nort h direct ion t hrough t he acquired ang le values . T he aut omat ization o f g yro sco pe co arse no rthfinding inst ead of the t rack reversion point w ay is achieved successfully . Experi m ent s show t hat the t im e of coarse nort hf inding is reduced fr om 10 min t o 1. 5 min, and t he precision w it hin 30 can reach t he requirement of precise nort hf inding .
