Abstract The book of “Akhbār al-Sīn wa’l-Hind” was written by the Arabic merchants who lived in China then
according to their own experiences in the middle of 9th century and the beginning of 10th century. It is considered one of the
oldest travel notes of China and also a remarkable document throughout the ancient transportation history. It records countless
valuable natural and humanistic geographic informations, and meanwhile leaves many disputable problems for later
generations due to its early-accomplishment. This paper is a conclusion of a further textural research of the book on its
background of that time and its own features as well as historical significance by various angles on the basis of other fruit of
their research.
