Teaching aims and learning objectives By the end of the lesson, students should be able to: 1. learn about the unusual thing that happened to Millie and Amy; 2. use reading skills to guess the meanings of the new words, to get the general idea and details. Teaching contents New words and phrases: as, usual, suddenly, anybody, nobody, reply, strange, leave, quickly, happen, everything, wonder, carefully, search, himself, weak, pick, surprised, later, somebody, whisper, bush, miaow, as usual, turn around, on one’s/the way, say to oneself, pick up, take … to, the animal centre, run away III. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty 1. Many past forms of verbs in the story; 2. Reading skills to get the general idea and details. IV. Teaching procedures Step 1 Lead-in T: Look at the screen. How do you feel? 1. Are there any ghosts in the world? 2. Are you afraid of ghosts? 3. Do you like reading ghost stories? 【设计意图:通过图片和自由交谈引出本文的主题——鬼故事。】 Step 2 Presentation 1. Read and guess T: Today let’s share a ghost story. First, read the title, look at the picture and answer the following questions: (1) Where did the story happen? (2) Who might see the ghost? Difficult words T: Read the story silently again and circle the words you don’t understand. T: Here are some words in the story.
