Methods: M icroglia cellw ere treatedw ith lipopolysaccharide ( 200 ng/m l) in presence or absence of various concentration of curcum in, the cytotoxicity of curcum in w as measured byMTT, the production ofNO w as determ inedw ith n itrate reductase, iNOS expressionw as detec ted w ithw esternblot and mi munocytochem ical stain. Results: Therew as no effect on cell survivalw ith the various concentration of curcum in( 2. 5~ 20 mol/L ); the production of NO and iNOS expression w as in ducedm arkedly by LPS( 200 ng/m l) after 24 h; the production ofNO and iNOS expression w as decreased by curcum in( 10 mol/L) sign ificantly in activatedm icroglia cells. Conclusion: Curcum in cou ld decrease the iNOS expression and suppress the production ofNO in activatedm icroglia cells.
