She was leaving early the next morning. 4. 和always，forever等频度副词连用，表示说话人的一定感情色彩。 He was forever complaining about something．(表厌烦) 三、过去完成时 过去完成时由“had +过去分词”构成。用法如下： 1. 表示在过去某一时间或动作以前已经完成了的动作，该动作发生的时间是“过去的过去”。 I didnt go to the cinema because I had already seen the film. By the end of 1962, we had met the demand for petroleum. He asked me whether I had seen the film the night before． 2. 表示从过去某一时间开始，延续到过去另一时间的动作。 He had been ill for two weeks when we learned about it. 3. 用在“It was the first time that sb．had done…”句型中 主句用了一般过去时，that引导的从句要用过去完成时。 It was the first time that we had spoken together． 4. 用在no sooner…than和hardly／scarcely…when句型中no sooner…than和hardly／scarcely…when，意为“一……就……”，主句常用过去完成时，从句用一般过去时。“no sooner，hardly／scarcely”移至句首表示强调时，要用倒装语序。 No sooner had we reached home than it began to rain． 四、过去完成进行时 由“had been+现在分词”构成。它表示一个动作延续到过去的某一时间。He had been walking since ten oclock and he was beginning to feel extremely tired. 2.
