Our understanding on the interactions between crop and environment ,integration across disciplines ,and organization of data would be improved through the utilization of this kind of models. The crop growth models were helpful to make management decisions ,such as cultural practices ,fertilizers ,irrigation and pesticide ,as well as soil erosion ,agricultural chemicals leach ,climate change impacts and regional yield prediction. The development purposes and limitations of the current prevailing crop growth models were reviewed ,the prospect of the models in these areas was also discussed.
