Methods：Using 2012-2014 data of health financial report to conduct descriptive statistical analysis on the densities of operation benefit ，operation efficiency ，debt paying ability ，development ability and cost management ability on 14 urban public hospitals of Chongqing. Results：The economic running of urban public hospitals in Chongqing was stable and financial balance moved towards rationality. However ，social benefit was weakened as a result of the government ’s sufficient investment. The operation efficieny and debt paying ability were low. Medical cost control and cost control ability were insufficient. Conclusion：It needed to quantify financial input and convert the input mode; complete cost management system and improve internal management ability.
