4 4 () Vol.4 　No.4 　2005 12 ournal of Beijing iaotong University(Social Sciences Edition) 　Dec.2005 叶　起　昌 (北京交通大学 人文社会科学学院, 北京 100044) 　:当代图像与文字的关系体现为“超媒体”和“互 电视网络系统”两种形式。传统符号学以语言为本体论基 础来处理两者之间的关系在认识论上是误导, 符号的本质也被还原为符号现象。 图像与文字, 由于各自的不同“给 予”, 具有不同的认识论要求。认知的中介本质、符号的非中立性以及符号体系必须拥有的三大元功能不仅为区别图 像与文字奠定了认识论基础, 而且也为探讨它们之间的关系提供了可能性, 同时, 更是理解虚拟现实的有效途径。 :图像;文字;后印刷时代;话语;给予 :H0　　　:A　　　:1672-8106(2005)04-0061-05 On the Image_Word Relation in the Post_Typographic Discourse YE Qi-chang (School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Beijing iaotong University, Beijing 100044, China) Abstract :“Hypermedia”and “the interactive television system”are the tw o contemporary relationships between image and word.Epistemologically misleading is the traditional semiotic account of the image_ w ord relation since it is ontologically based on language, and as a result, the nature of sign is reduced to its phenomena.Image and w ord possess different epistemological commitments due to their own separate “affordances”.The article holds that it is the mediated nature of human knowledge, the unneu- tral nature of signs, and the three metafunctions w hich any semiotic system should possess, that serve as the epistemological basis for the division of image and word, provide the possibility to explore the relations between these two semiotic systems and open an effective way to deal with the virtual reality.
