Microwave-assisted Extraction Used for the Isolation of Total Flavonoids from Cyclocarya paliurus (Key Laboratory of Food Science of Ministry of Education, Nanchang University, Nanchang 330047, People’s Republic of China) Abstract: Microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) of total flavonoids from Cyclocarya paliurus was studied.Response surface methodology was employed to optimize the parameters of the Microwave-assisted extraction on the yield of total flavonoids which were directly determined by colorimetric method without any further treatment.Four independent variables were temperature , extraction time (min),solid:liquid ratio,the concentration of alcohol.Considering the feasibility of experiment, the optimum conditions of extraction were temperature 77 centigrade, extraction time 15min, solid:liquid ratio 1:21,the concentration of alcohol 63%.The predicted values in the optimal condition was 16.183499mg/g and had a close agreement to experiment value.MAE has many advantages, such as simple,shorter time,less solvent and higher extraction rate,which can be used to extract total flavonoids from Cyclocarya paliurus.
