Real estate project which has been in operation provides retailers with more opportunities for development. According to the demands for diversification and specialization of consumption function in business circles, retailers must adjust theirselves to their environment. What kinds of roles should department stores play in new opportunities and challenges? How to gain the room for existence and development? These problems has been a focus of retailers’ attention. Therefore, It should be discussed and analyzed how to make the development and marketing strategy of traditional department stores to innovate. The research method of synthetical qualitative analysis was used in the course of the study in this paper. The first two chapters reviewed and introduced the development course of department stores, and then following third chapter analysed the current situation of chinese department stores and discussed the existing problems of chinese department stores. Based on the analysis of the third chapter, the fourth chapter explored the future tendencies and characteristic features, and in the last part combined with problems and tendencies of department stores above mentioned, the innovative strategy for marketing of traditional department stores was discussed, including product, price, place, promotion and service strategy.
