Hebei General Hospital, Shijiazhuang 050000， China)[Abastract] Objective The study is to investigate the curative effect and brain electrical activity of oxcarbazepine (OXC),lamotrigine (LTG), levetiracetam (LEV)in newly diagnosed partial epilepsy. Methods 133 adults with newly diagnosed partial epilepsy were randomly divided into three groups who were received OXC LTG LEV monotherapy respectively. To investigate the curative effect and brain electrical activity, the patients were followed up after twelve month therapy. Result After 12 month OXC therapy, there is no significant changes about the rate of seizure free in three groups. The total effective rate of OXC and LTG group were higher than LEV group(P＜0.05). All of the three drugs might diminish or even vanish IEA. And there were no significant changes of α rhythm in three groups after 12 month therapy. The relative power of α、β、δ and θ were no changes in LTG and LEV group by brain electrical activity mapping. Significant increase of the relative power of θ band (P0·05) was observed after 12 month therapy in OXC group. Conclusion OXC, LTG and LEV monotherapy is effective for adults with newly diagnosed partial epilepsy, which might diminish or even vanish IEA. LTG and LEV impact little the background activity of EEG. OXC might increase the relative power of θ band. [Key words] Epilepsies; Oxcarbazepine; lamotrigin
