Feng Studies on the cleaning Operation by Using Light Chainsaw in the Crptomeria Young Stands The purposes of this study have aimed: 1. to search the possibility of using light chainsaw in cleaning operation of the young stand. 2. to analyze those factors affecting cleaning operations throuth time study method. 6 sample plots with 7-year-old crptomeria plantation are located at Pu-li Forest District nearby Wu-se area of central part of Taiwan. The observation of cleaning operation was carried out from March to April, 1982. After a procedure of stand cruising, time study as well as cost analysis, it provides some results as follows: 1. The light chainsaw used in cleaning operation of young plantation is generally acceptable, especially when the felling is concerned. 2. According to the data analysis, the operation efficiency by using chainsaw and labor combination could be reach only one third of the normal thinning operation. 3. High correlation between operation time consumed and timber volume per tree is more evidently than that between the operation time and timber diameter. 一 、前言 鏈鋸應用 於伐 木 、造 材作 業上已 有數 十年之歷史 ，但使用 在除 伐 工作則 仍屬 少 見 。近 年 來由 於工商 業發 達 、工資 上漲 迅 ，速使得 林業經營 不得 不也 走上機械 、省 工 、省 力和節 省 成本的 途徑 上 ，而伐 木 ，育 林作 業便是重要的 一環 。 本省自 光復 以來 ，造 林樹種中 ，除 松樹造 林以外 ，概 以杉木 、柳 杉之栽植面 積最 大 ，而造 林成績異 ，故 終為被 推廣 之樹種 ，唯 此等樹種 ，幼年生長迅 ，速 栽植數 年以 1 Professor, Dept of Forestry 2 Assistant, Dept of Forestry
