Chapter 6 Semantic Analyzer for TINY Context-free Grammar for TINY Sample Program Syntax Tree TINY Semantics The TINY language is extremely simple in its static semantic requirements. There are no explicit declarations, no named constants, data types, or procedures. Variable are declared by use, and all variables have integer data type. There are no nested scopes. A variable has the same meaning throughout the program. Attributes for TINY Attribute is any property of a programming language construct. What are the TINY constructs? Type Checking for Expressions Two types of expressions Symbol Table The symbol table is a major inherited attribute. In typical cases the symbol table includes datatype and scope information. The symbol table for TINY stores the memory locations. Locations are viewed as as integer indices that are incremented each time a new variable is encountered. The structure of the symbol table is the chained hush table. Hush Function Use a constant number α as a multiplying factor when adding in the value of the next character.
