Lesson Planning1. What is a lesson plan? A lesson plan is a framework of a lesson in which teachers make advance decisions about what they hope to achieve and how they would like to achieve it. Teachers need to think about the aims to be achieved, materials to be covered, activities to be organized, and techniques and resources to be used in order to achieve the aims of the lesson.2. The Significance of Lesson Planning: 1) A clear lesson plan makes the teacher aware of the aims and language contents of the lesson. 2) it helps teachers distinguish the various stages of a lesson and see the relationship between them so that the activities of different difficulty levels can be arranged properly and the lesson can move smoothly from one stage to another.3) Proper lesson planning gives teachers the opportunity to anticipate potential problems that may arise in class so that they can be prepared with some possible solutions or other options for the lesson.4) Good planning gives teachers, especially novice teachers, confidence in class.5) When planning the lesson, the teacher also becomes aware of the teaching aids that are needed for the lesson.6) Planning is a good practice and a sign of professionalism.3. Principles for good lesson planning1) Aim: the realistic goals for the lesson. One lesson may have a number of aims. Aims are not the things teachers intend to do during the lesson, but the things that students are able to do by the end of the lesson.2) Variety: planning a number of different types of activities and where possible, introducing students to wide selection of materials so that learning is always interesting, motivating and never monotonous for the students.3) Flexibility: preparing some extra and alternative tasks and activities as the class does not always go according to the plan so that teachers always have the options to cope with the unexpected situations rather being the slave of written plans or one methodology.4) Learnability: the conten
