Working Together to Safeguard Children 2006
This document has been produced by the Safe Recruitment Sub-Group of the AMA Network for use by all Allegations Management Advisers when supporting LSCBs in establishing safe and robust recruitment and selection policies, procedures and practices.
The document uses standards extracted from the guidance “Working Together to Safeguard Children 2006” and various other good practice guidance issued by Government departments and professional organisations.
All examples of practice given which would demonstrate that these standards are being met comply with the safe recruitment recommendations of the inquiry undertaken by Sir Michael Bichard and published in 2004.
Many LSCBs and their partners will already have good recruitment policies or guidance in place and for these LSCBs the document may assist in self-evaluation. For those who are revising their procedures, or working towards implementing new procedures the document may serve to ensure compliance with national guidance.

LSCB ensures that its child protection procedures contain guidance on safe recruitment enabling all organisations that work with children and young people to ensure that their policies and procedures are consistent with LSCB procedures
Procedures contain a statement which gives explicit information on how HR management and recruitment practices will safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
Organisations working with children have in place a clear policy and procedures for safe recruitment which sets out safeguarding standards within human res
