The unique function of nurse is to assist the individual, sick or well, in the performance of those activities contributing to health or its recovery (or to peaceful death) ,to help him gain independence as rapidly as possible Nursing is the diagnosis and treatment of human responses to actual or potential health problems The goal of nursing is to restore, maintain and advance the health of individuals, groups or entire communities. Nursing is a science and an art. The science is the application of nursing knowledge and the technical aspects of practice. The art is the establishment of a caring relationship through which nurses apply nursing knowledge, skills and judgment in a compassionate manner.
