Without Signal Objects there is only a variable available in the Control Builder assigned to the channel of a board and no visual presentation in the Engineering Workplace. Signal Objects can be used in the Function Designer. They are displayed with a graphical symbol and can be connected graphically as well. When using Signal Objects the system will create the needed variables in the Control Builder automatically and will assign it to the channels as well. The Signal Object name can start with a number, like 123FIC456_In. Each Signal Object contains a set of parameters. This allows entering signal data at an early stage without the necessity to create the specific I/O boards at that time. The allocation of signals to boards can be done in a later step. A Signal Object is visible in the Functional Structure and also in the Control Structure. This provides a kind of navigation and show
