Chinese architectural style is a unique architectural style which uses timber（木材） as the primary construction material. As a famous architectural style. Chinese architecture is distinguished by the following main characteristics: 1) its greatest achievements are the royal palaces and city plans, which reflect China‘s supreme imperial authority （至高无上的王权）and social estate system; 2) its courtyards（庭院） were built around an axis（轴线）; 3) it is in perfect harmony with nature. Chinese architectural styles resonate (产生共鸣)the moral principles ,aesthetic （美学）conceptions and values of Chinese people . It is generally accepted that traditional Chinese architectural style can be classified into several categories: royal palaces, residential houses, and religious temples and pagodas(佛塔) and tombs. However, the architectural styles of different regions and nationalities in China may vary in characteristics and functions. Traveling all the way from the Northern China to the South, from the Yellow River down to the Yangtze River, you will be moved by the works of Chinese architects whose different styles, structures, and materials can be found in various regions, even in different districts within the same city. Traditional Chinese architecture Together with European architecture and Arabian architecture, traditional Chinese architecture is an important component（组成部分）of the system of world architecture. During its long development, it gradually formed into a style which featured timberwork combining stone carving, rammed（压实） earth construction, and many other techniques. Industrious Chinese laboring people created many architectural miracles such as the Great Wall, Forbidden City. Modern Chinese architecture Modern Chinese architecture generally refers to the architecture built since the middle period of the 19th century. During the period from the broke out of Opium War （鸦片战争）in 1840 to the establishment of Peoples Republic of China in 1949, Chinese architecture
