Receives separate power from ignition Use jumper wires to test system MASTER CONTROL SWITCH On Driver’s Door System grounded through Master Switch if PM Motor Safety Lock Ignition must be on. Must use Continuity Chart to Test WINDOW MOTOR CIRCUIT DRIVE MOTORS Permanent Magnet most are insulated Two Field Winding Motor opposite windings motor is grounded TAPE DRIVE Cable Drive DIRECT DRIVE MOTOR WINDOW REGULATORAssist Up Spring Less Amps used to raise window Dangerous when servicing! WIRING CIRCUITS ONE TOUCH SYSTEM Most makers use this system Electronically controlled by “Power Window Control Module” Less than .3 sec, window travels all the way down More than .3 sec, window only travels until you let off switch DIAGNOSE IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME Think about the circuit you are diagnosing. Get a plan of action through reasoning Use the Schematic of the System DIAGNOSIS Broken Wire in Jamb Sluggish Operation Excessive Voltage Drop Jumper Leads Binding Linkage Lubrication is Important! Check Switch Operation Check for Power at Motor Component Replacement Safety First!! Cleanliness Make sure diagnosis is correct. Verify diagnosis before motor replace Verify Repair (Is problem taken care of?) DEMONSTRATION SHOP EXERCISE Find a Power Window equipped vehicle. Get a Power Window Schematic for the car you are working on. Verify type of system you are working on. (Identify switch type and terminals) Perform Switch test with jumper wires as applicable. (See Page 405 406 in Lab manual for a guide.) Lab 356 and 357 Page 354C and 356C Page 353C
