In the next few slides we will review some of the basic benefits of utilizing color. In this slide, we have a complex assembly printed in one color, white. With this geometry, it is difficult to determine the different components or how many parts make up the assembly. With full color, it is much easier to identify the various components. The full color version provides the users with much more information. All drawings have a part label, why not apply that to every 3D Printed part. Z Corporation’s systems now allow this to be easily done in the software prior to printing. Markup features give you the ability to call out changes that have been made to each revision of a design or to call out changes that are not easy to identify. What has changed here? The changes are clearly visible when they can be highlighted or marked up. With color, models can be created to help in manufacturing and production planning. On the left, we have a full engine casting package, with different color designating different components. On the right, we have a part that will require finish machining. The different machine tolerance levels to be applied are called out in different colors on the model. 3D Printed parts can be used to analyze form and fit as well as ergonomics. Finally, full color gives you the ability to output engineering analysis data directly onto printed models.
