AbstractLandslide is a common geological disaster as the frequency and severity are quit astonishing. Our country is a mountainous area: for instance, there are 2490 large scale landslides in the Three Gorges Reservoir and landslides are increasing in number day by day. With the rapid development of economic construction and infrastructure, the stability analysis technique of landslide has been improved and become a hot topic of academic discussion.This paper takes the slope of Buddha Mountain in Longsheng County as the investigated subject. On the basis of the analysis of the geological conditions, since the slope in the study area is strongly weathered phyllite which can be regarded as homogeneous soft rock, the failure mode can be an approximation of circular arc form.The form of circular arc failure usually is highly fractured、the weathered rock mass or theweak rock mass slope, so the Sweden slice method and FLAC3D are employed to make an intensive study of the stability. Conclusions are drawn as followed:1、Based on survey datum, making an understanding of hydrogeologic and engineeringgeologic conditions and the basic inducements of the landslide.2、Through the investigation of the deformation characteristics and influential factors of landslides, the Sweden slice method and FLAC3D are adopted to analyze the stability of slope and forecast the movement that may occur.3、As the calculation obtained by the Sweden slice method presents: the slope will staystable in natural state,while the slope will go unstable in the condition of rainstorm. This is almost consistent with the real situation.4 、 FLAC3D is carried out in numerical simulating 2-2 section of the slope, it can beclearly got the sliding zone, and analyzed the plastic region, stress,displacement,shear strain increment and the maximum unbalanced force.As mentioned above, the stability research using FLAC3D software combined with the Sweden slice method is feasible.
