Chapter Ⅳ Orders and Contracts Learning Objectives In this chapter, you will learn: 1.How to write an order letter; 2.How to make an order form; 3.The contents of a sales contract or a sales confirmation; 4.How to fill in a contract in English; 5.Set phrases,useful sentence patterns about orders and contracts. Introduction In foreign trade, after mutual negotiations, when the buyers have finally decided to buy, they will place with the sellers an order. An order is a request to supply a specified quantity of goods, stating the name of com--modity ,quantity, price, packing ,terms of payment and information about delivery etc. When placing an order, the buyers will send to the sellers an order letter accom- panied by a printed order form. Upon receipt of an order from the buyers, the sellers should give the buyers a reply to confirm the acceptance of the order and en- close a sales contract/confirmation. And the buyers are required to countersign the contract and send it back for the sellers’ records. ?
