A showcase of the best Chinese films is taking place in Taiwan as we speak, they are competing for the Golden Horse Awards, regarded as the Chinese language Oscars. Films from the Chinese mainland have gained more prominence in recent years. Beijing blues Life without Principles 《神探亨特张 》 《夺命金》 Best Feature Film Best Film Editing Best Cinematography Best Director Best Actor Best Original Screenplay Beijing Blues portrays the lives of urban dwellers through the work of a squad of plainclothes crime-hunters. Director Gao QunShu hired a lot of amateur actors, and captured their natural reactions as a chain of events unfolds in the film. The best supporting actress award went to mainlands Liang Jing for her role in Design of Death. Ronald Cheng （郑中基）snatched the best supporting actor award for Vulgaria Kwai Lun-Mei won best actress award for her performance in Girlfriend-Boyfriend. Hong Kong’s Sean Lau won best actor for Life Without Principles.
