Should the May Day Golden Week be Scrapped? I think the May Day golden week should be scrapped. No matter how, the advantages of the cancellation of it far outweigh the disadvantages. If the May Day week has not been scrapped, it has so many disadvantages. First of all; it may bring the waste of tourism resources. In order to service the increased large number of tourists better on the holiday, the scenic areas and the city must add the staffs and the communal facilities. But after the holiday, all these are left and useless, so it causes the squander of the resources. In the other hand, too many people in the scenic areas may cause damage of the environment, which may make our environment worse; it goes against the sustainable development of the natural resources. Secondly, during the golden week days, too many people go travelling may cause traffic problems. We can see the crowd of people every where in the scenic areas, the traffic is always very heavy, the delay of the transportation is happening frequently, and sometimes serious traffic accidents may happen. The government must dispatch some public servants to maintain normal order, thus it adds the burden of the government and it is not benefit for the normal order of the work of government. Thirdly, the national legal holidays of our country are finite, there were three golden weeks if the May Day golden week hadn’t been scrapped, but there are few traditional legal holidays such as Tomb-sweeping Day on which we can focus our feelings. We need to pay more attention on our traditional holidays because it is good for our cultural construction. However, the cancellation of May Day golden week decreased the vacation of the workers, but now our country’s policy of paid vocation has gradually matured, I think we will stand a chance to spend some time with our families every year.
