Tension and Compression 2.11 Statically Indeterminate Problem Solution： In order to determine the internal forces, the static equilibrium equations(静力平衡方程), geometrical equations(几何方程) and physical equations(物理方程) should be solved jointly. The internal force is related to the stiffness(刚度). The bigger the stiffness is, the bigger the internal force will be. The deformation status can be assumed freely. But the direction of internal force must be determined according to the deformation status. If the solution of internal force is positive, it show that the assumption is consistent with the fact. So the method of positive assumption (设正法) can be used.
