AbstractThepowerlinecommunication(PLC)hasbeenatopicofinterestinrecentyears. Significantresearcheffortsandworksinindustryandacademiahavebeencarriedoutto modelthecommunicationchannelandthenoiseoverPLCchannel,providing theoreticalbasisforPLCequipmentresearchanddevelopment.However,fewstudies concentrateonthecharacteristicofthesourcedataofthechannelandthenoise.When thePLCequipmentscommunicatewitheachotherwithabandwidthuptoafewMHz, thesourcedatawillconsumelargeamountsofstorageandcomputingresources. Therefore,areasonabledatacompressionandstoragesolutionisveryimportantand necessary.Thispaperresearchesondesigningaefficientdatastorageandcollectionstrategy ofPLC channel and noisesourcedatabased on compressed sensing.Firstly,thenoiseoverthePLCchannelcanbedividedintotwocategories,namely backgroundnoiseandrandomnoise,underacertainthresholdbasedontheanalysisof thesparsecharacteristics.On theonehand, therandom noise can becompressed to store basedonanoveldatacompressiontechnology,compressedsensing,becauseofthe sparsecharacteristicinthefrequencydomainofit.Ontheotherhand,backgroundnoise issimilartowhitenoise,sowecanrecoveritthroughtwoparameters,storednoise meanandvariance.Extensivesimulationsaregiventoanalysestheperformanceofthe proposed scheme.Secondly,similartowirelessmultipathchannel,thePLCchannelmodelsuggests thatthecharacteristicsofitaremainlydependonshortdistanceandsmalldelaypaths. Asaresult,thecompressedsensingcanalsobeappliedtoPLCchannelestimation.
