One will document the similarities and differences of: 1. The make-up of the Instructional guides, PBL and units from the online Teach 21 site. 2. The other group will find examples of literacy and where they are located. Transfer responses to chart paper and give time to report out. * So, when we talk about the components of West Virginia’s high quality standards-based planning and instruction, e.g., Instructional Guides, Units, PBLs (which we chose to talk about today), they are the culmination of the quality standards-based planning that combines CSOs which results in classroom instruction that is so much richer and engaging for students. You see many similarities: 1) they can contain the same parts/elements (give examples from the list); 2) these parts/elements reflect the three stages of backward design; 3) their format is similar – they somewhat look alike; and 4) all three reflect high quality standards-based classroom instruction. The Power Standards are used in the Instructional guides and PBLs, the parts of the Instructional Guides are also used in the Units, and PBLs will be a more in-depth unit using real world applications and other concepts .
