AbstractUptodate,membraneseparationtechnologysuchasultrafiltrationandnanofiltrationbecomesthenextgenerationtechnologyforsolvingtheworldwidecrisisofwatershortages.Nanofiltration(NF)asthetypicalmembraneseperationtechnologyinvolvesseparationofmonovalentanddivalentsalts,ororganicsoluteswithmolecularweightintherange200-1000gmol?1.Althoughtheinterfacialpolymerization(IP)astheprevailingtechniquehasbeenwidelyusedtofabricatethin-?lm-composite(TFC)NFmembranesforwatertreatment,IPtechniqueismainlyappliedtoflat-sheetmembraneswhicharepackagedintospiral-woundmodules,andrarelyutilizedforthefabricationofhollowfibermoduleswiththehigherpackingdensity.Fromthepraticalpointofview,thehollowfibermoduleshavethebetterperformanceandwiderapplications.Inthisstudy,TFCnanofiltrationmembraneswerenewlydevelopedthroughIPtechniqueonthelumensideofhollowfibersupportmembranesbyexploringnovelcombinationofreactingmonomers.Firstly,theeffectsoftheconditions(suchastheconcentrationofMPDA,theimpregnatedtimeofMPDA,theconcentrationofTMC,reactiontime,theconcentrationofsurfactantandtheconcentrationofprotonacceptor)ofinterfacepolymerizationontheperformanceofthefabricatedNFhollowfibermembranewereexplored.Secondlyanothermonomer(piperazine:PIP)inwaterphasewasaddedintheinterfacialpolymerizationsystem.Andwefoundthatthemolecularweightcutoff(MWCO)ofNFmembranescanbeadjustedtobelessthan300.0gmol-1andthepurewaterpermeabilitycanreachashighas3.14Lm-2h-1bar-1basedonthedifferentcombinationsofreactingmonomers(MPDAandPIP).TheNFmembranesdemonstrateddifferentrejectionsfordifferentsaltsintheorderofR(Na2SO4)R(MgSO4)R(NaCl)R(MgCl2)andwellpressureresistance.ThenovelNFmembraneswerefurtherutilizedtoremovetypicalcontaminantsofdyesbyvaryingthefactorsofoperatingpressures,feedconcentrationsandpHvalues.ForbothofsafraninOandanilinebluedyes,therejectioncanbehigherthan90%undertestingconditions,andthemuchimportantfindingwasthattheexcellentperformanceofNFmembranestoremovedyesfromwastewatercanbemaintainedinawiderangeofpHvalues.Attheoperatingpressure
