Each of you is required to valuate five software interfaces from a human factors standpoint using the usability measures. Although these are not difficult assignments, they are an important part of your learning experience as well as a large component of your grade. The following interfaces but not limited to is ready for your selection. Evaluate an automated teller machine (ATM). Go withdraw some money from your bank using an ATM and evaluate the interface. In this case we cannot completely separate the software from the hardware, but try to focus on the software. In your brief report, state which banks teller you used, which features you used, and briefly describe the ATM (a picture of the screen/keyboard layout would help). Use the evaluation criteria and checklist provided. Make any additional comments that you feel are necessary, and suggest any additional criteria that you feel are needed. Evaluate part of MS Word. The program as a whole is too big to be practical, so we are limiting it by having you produce a simple, two page paper, with a small mathematical formula and a simple figure. Turn in your paper, and point out which parts of the tool you used. Compare MS Word with other word processing tools you have used. How would a novice user transition to an expert user?
