AbstractThe media industry always attaches importance to contents. Providing popular news is the key to the success of a medium. City Daily was raised in 1990s and now is the mainstream of newspaper industry. And the news-producing theory of city daily can provides useful experience to the development of newspaper industry.The city daily is large in number and wide in distribution and it’s difficult to sort out the city daily’s producing characteristics. In order to solve this problem, the author divides city daily’s news into short-quick pattern and in-depth reports pattern and analyzes the two patterns respectively. The thesis uses the method of field investigation and interviewing to analyze the topic.The short-quick pattern will be analyzed through reviewing Anhui Commercial Paper. The paper was the second city daily of Anhui Daily Group and now is developed into one of the three strong of Anhui’s newspaper industry. The paper located in Middle China and the media environment is not as relax as South China but good at marketing, its news-producing has affluent meaning. Through analyzing the paper, the author concludes the short-quick pattern’s characteristics into the following: 1 focus on mundane, local and humanity; 2 under the pressure of limited time, the news reports are short and well written; 3 pay attention to news plan and focus on different competition; 4 the pressure of politics and market influence a lot.The in-depth reports pattern will be analyzed through reviewing the focus news of New Jing Paper and concludes the characteristics of the deep-reporting pattern as following: 1 A reasonable media mechanism is the prerequisite of in-depth reports 2 not only focus on local but also national, even international hot topics; 3 in-depth reports was founded on news factors and pursuit objectivity, fairness, impartiality, revealed the core meaning and value behind a news event; 4 the pressure of propaganda and market influence a lot.The short-quick pattern i
