AbstractInterferonRegulatoryFactor(IRF)formsafamilyoftranscriptionfactorinvolvedintranscriptionalregulationoftypeIInterferon(IFN)andIFN-stimulatedgenes(ISG)incells.IRFplaysasignificantroleinhostdefenseagainstvirusinfection,immuneresponseandcellgrowthregulation.IRF-2isamultifunctionaltranscriptionfactorandplaysapivotalroleinregulationofapoptosisandcellcyclecontrol.TheavailableinformationshowsthatIRF-2worksasanegativeregulatoryfactorinthetranscriptionofIFNandISGgenes.IRF-2canalsoactivelyinducecertaingenessuchasothercytokinesandchemokines.Therefore,itsimultaneouslyplaysthedifferentrolesincell-med
