Workshop 6: Providers Title: Outcomes Approach: Perspectives from Providers Date: Friday 13th November 2009 Time: 11:15 – 12:15 Facilitators: Victoria Murray (Turning Points Scotland) Richard Klein (Garvald Edinburgh) Ann McGuigan (The Richmond Fellowship) Brief outline (of workshop aims): The workshop will: Give examples of how the Talking Points Personal Outcomes Approach is being developed in three different organisations. Speakers and summary of their contribution: Each speaker will describe their organisations’ introduction to the Outcomes Approach, the development of new review paperwork, how they piloted the approach, received feedback from the pilots, and the next steps that they are planning. Discussion: Discussion centred around the need for flexibility in this approach – How can we encourage and capture positive outcomes at a frontline level and balance this with the need to provide evidence at a statistical, organisational, and national level. Research – e.g. meeting with other organisations; examining reporting obligations for funding and regulatory bodies; referring to national community care standards; incorporating existing good practice; imagining what progress/change might look like for individuals Consultation – e.g. by talking to TPS staff in various services (e.g. learning disa
