AbstractThis study adopts quantitative and qualitative analysis, through the analysis of the definition of “comparative teaching method” , “lexical chunks”, the theoretical basis of “comparative teaching method”, the relationship between English writing and lexical approach, aiming at the effect of this Lexical Chunk Comparative Teaching Method. This experiment takes two classes (total 80 students who are all second year students) with similar situation in Xinxian NO.1 Senior High School in Henan province as samples; one class as control group, and the other as experimental group. This experiment contains a pretext and a post-test. The pretext is at the beginning of the term, and the topic would be the English writing topic of Jiangxi 2009 University Entrance Exam. The pose-test would be at the end of the term and the topic would be the English writing topic of Zhejiang 2008 University Entrance Exam. This experiment will last for 20 weeks. The experimental group takes this new teaching method, and the control group takes the traditional teaching method. After the statistic analysis of the outcomes of this experiment, the conclusion is achieved: lexical chunks comparative teaching method plays a promotive role in high school students English writing teaching.
