Methods : Forty adult male guinea pigs were randomly divided into control group (group A) ， asthmatic group (group B)， arsenic trioxide group (group C) and dexamethasone group(group D) (ten in each group). Asthmatic model was established by ovalbumin intraperitoneal combined with inhalation . The guinea pigs were killed at 24 h after the last challenge .the total leucocytes and the petcentage of eosinophil in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and bone marrow (BM) were measured. The percentage of 34 hematopoietic CD + cells in bone marrow were counted by flow cytometry. Immunohistochemistry detected the expression of CD34+ 、 Interleukin － 5 、 Interleukin－5Rα in the BM and lung tissue. Interleukin－5 levels were measured by ELISA in BALF and BM.
