Methods: Expressions of Suvivin and COX-2 in 10 cases of normal kidney tissues (NK) and 36 cases of renal clear cell carcinoma (RCCC) were detected by using immunohistochemistry method. Results: 1. Survivin mainly expressed in the cytoplasm of RCCC. 28 cases were positive in 36 RCCC ﹙ 77.8% ﹚ and 10 cases normal kidney tissues were negative,which has significant difference ﹙ P ＜ 0.01 ﹚ .There is a significant difference of Survivin expression in different pathological grade and clinical phase ﹙P＜0.05﹚. COX-2 mainly expressed in the cytoplasm or cytolemma of RCCC. 26 cases were positive in 36 RCCC﹙72.2%﹚and 2 cases in 10 normal kidney tissues ﹙20.0%﹚, which has significant difference﹙P＜0.01﹚. There is no significant difference of COX-2 expression in different pathological grade﹙P＞0.05﹚,but There is a significant difference in different clinical phase﹙P＜0.05﹚. The rates of COX-2 expression in Survivin expressed positive and negative were 82.1%﹙23/28﹚and 37.5%﹙3/8﹚respectively. There is a significant difference between them﹙P＜0.05﹚. Conclusion: 1.High expression of Survivin in RCCC indicated that Survivin may play an essential roll in the occurrence and progression of RCCC by inhibiting cell apoptosis. Expression of Survivin was closely correlated with RCCC pathological grade and clinical phase, which implied that it can serve as a marker of patient’ condition and prognosis. High expression of COX-2 in RCCC and its intimate correlation with clinical phase indicated that it may has important contribution in the occurrence, progression , tumor invasion and metastasis
